A seafaring door

THERE ONCE was an ordinary door
With dreams of seeing the shore
;
A porthole came by

And said "I'll be your eye,

Through me you'll see seagulls soar!"

This is one of the busynesses I have been up to lately (apart from writing silly limericks)... click on the picture for a larger version.
It'll be the front door at the back of our wheeled home when we've removed the tailgate.
All we need now are some nice hinges and handles and suchlike... do you think it'd be silly to have a letterbox too?

What a wonderful door! I love getting to see your pretty face. Love the clothes you wear. My favorite shot so far is the center bottom of you half hiding behind it. Artful.

You must have a letterbox in it! All houses need a letter box! How cute. Unless it makes for a good mouse door! You decide.

You handle a saw pretty handily there!

I just realized, you must have electricity? How?

Aha! It's a borrowed generator :)
The plan is to have solar fed batteries when we are up and running... thanks for the sweet comments :)

I agree the letterbox is a must.

Also, this is the first time I'm posting on your blog, but I've been reading through the archives and looking at everything you have tucked in the niches on the side for the past couple of days. Your blog is a mirror of your cozy home, it's lovely.

You must have a letterbox! This is so lovely.

(And tomorrow I'll post a picture of the little porthole we put in beside the bath last Friday... honestly Rima, another coincidence!)

Letterbox, of course you must have a letterbox! It would be silly not to. :)

Wow! Cool! Where did you find the window?

A letterbox is in my opinion a MUST to complete the magic of your Bedford Home :)

Good old ebay provided us with the window :) ... will be looking there for letterboxes too on everyone's recommendation!

Rima, I love your door... every little detail.. so much care and love of detail... just what I like!! So that every which way you turn you will feel comforted and a sense of pleasing accomplishment down in your soul... with everything having so much meaning.. Beautiful!!!

What a wonderful door. Reminds me a bit of "Howl's moving castle" animation. If you did not see it, you have to see--at least the house on wheels they had:)
And would not it be cool, if the door would open to different places, depending on your moood?
and yes, definitly a letter box!
